Thats actually a pretty damn cool idea. My racing (MTB Freak) starts off with Barbeton. Maybe we should put the Zim ride off till we can get it organised properly and go it your way. How many days do you reckon it'll take?

PPWTF - To be honest riding with gear'll probably set us back 2 -3 KPH.
Have you ridden in our area before? The Baviaans is a real test and we could even break it into three days but let me have a decent look at all this and we can start planning properley.

Plans are sort of ticking along. The major hurdle is trying to find guys who have a enough doh to spend.  BB's will work out to around 3K' date=' spares and sh!t another grand. How long is your intended trip?

[/quote'] I have to apologise for hijacking but thanks for coming up with the idea and perhaps we can ask you to share your experience with us and make our trip easier as well. We would be on the dirt as much as possible but I think the principles will be similar except we may sleep under the stars if we can.

Experience??? I'm 20 , never done anything like this in my life. I do then think. Youthfull arrogance?

RacerX, don't be put off this journey. I've done several bike trips without backup. I've ridden from Belgium to Morocco, from JHB to PE (average more than 200km per day) and from JHB to the Botswana/Zambia border. They were all great experiences.

HELLO GUYS AND GALS

This is not a hijack just my experience. I have plenty.

Try rather for a distance of 150/ 170 km. Even with a Carbon Fiber bike and only a back pack weighing 6/8kg, 200km is not easy.

I always post some of my gear, cooldrink powder or supplements to different Towns.

If you get in touch with some Towns, You may find CHEAP decent overnight spots.

It is good to have group, I have always riden alone.

Will you be riding for any cause??? Why not???

The planning does not need to be perfect, I have had just as much success with any trip, from planning 3 months in advance to one week.

Enjoy and gave us some feedback.
