Hi, I have some issues with getting the ideal seat height. Maybe some tips or advice would be highly appreciated.

My Inseam: 84.5 cm

I used various formulas to try and get the right height but the saddle felt way too high. I used the LeMond?s 109% and that got me to 92.1cm. I?m currently riding with a 107% which gets you to 90.5 cm.

I want a setup that?s good for endurance/long climbs; I don?t do TT or don?t really worry about speed. (Incase this plays a role)

I prefer it 89 or 90, but is this too low according to my inseam?

Saddle hight should be between 74.5 and 75 cm from the centre of the crank to the top of the saddle, also depends on the pedals and cleats you are using, the generic formula is inseem X .885Smile my inseem is 820mm and saddle hight works out at 72.5cm which works perfect with shimano pedals on my road bike, but find 71.5 works or keels better on the mountain bike

My inseam is 88cm, and my saddle height I've put on 79cm from centre of BB to top of saddle. I think your saddle might be WAY to high. I personally don't like the Lemond 109% formula.

Inseam * 109% = Center of pedal to top of seat.

Inseam * 0.883 = Center of BB to top of seat.

My seat is actually to low i think. I used the 109% method to get to the 92cm. With the 0.883 method i get to 74.6cm from BB to seat; this feels way to high.

Is there some kind of formula for climbing, endurance, TT etc or is everything the same?

Your saddle height sounds pretty high. My inseam is around 94cm (floor to crotch) and my saddle height is 83cm from crank centre to top of saddle.

Your inseam X 0.883

In your case: 845 x 0.883 = + -  746cm.

Measurement taken from centre of BB, parrallel to seat tube and finally up to area where your sit bones rest. (may be a good idea to use a spirit level along your saddle from aft to fore).

This worked for me, final asjustment may differ by up to 2 centimeters.

Other than that, perhaps use this as a starting point and play around. Also consider that adjustments should only be made every 2 weeks in order to give yourself time to adapt.

a. don't rely on a formula,

and b. remember, slightly too low (while you're getting it right) is way better than too high...

MTB or road?

25 degree knee angle for road 30 for MTB if you can get someone to measure it for you.;emond as wll as 0.883 is a bit high for my liking.

what length is your crank arms?
