I watched "F1rst" for the first time last week, Sam Hill's race run in Champery gave me goosebumps, going that fast in those conditions is mind blowing.

Capricorn, do you have a link to the DirtTv vid you talking about?

I stand corrected craig: it's dirtmag, not dirttv (<-- more recent development). The vids are availabel on the web, but I remembered seeing it first in my copy of Earthed: Law of Fives. There's a feature on the 1:04 track. Also, it appears greg's run was on a wet track. So i'm gonna have to keep my rabidfanboism in check until greg's gets a shot in the dry. ;)

Gee had the previous record at a whisker over 1min. Sam's run was 57sec and still the current record. but IIRC, they've changed the 1:04 track.

funfact: 1:04 was the original time set by Dirt's Steve Jones, hence the track's name.

yeah. Leet22 guided me to there 661 stuff. nice to see they have the lid worn by Aaron Gwin. I think it looks mint. Props to CWC, but this is really only the tip of iceberg in terms of protective equipment. Hope they have the cajones to at least stock a full range of 661 protective gear, not just lightweight stuff for XCers... <_<

Loveme.DH/FR: the machete is on the hill in the bag, but it's at the top. Soz dude. But today I was freezing. Not the best of rides, so i got it done earlier than normal.

Do you think the more you spend the better? Any tips on choosing a pair?

using two brands: Oakley Crowbars, and Von Zipper (porkchops and Sizzle XT). Once worked in a bit, both sit the same on my face, and both pretty comfortable. The frame of the VZs feel stiffer, so you need a fairly tight headband to get them to sit properly, which sometimes makes mounting them a bit difficult. But i'm splitting hairs here. Also I think the foam lining on the VZs are a bit softer than that of the Oakleys. Other than that, both work pretty well with similar anti-fogging capabilities (when there is airflow thru them!).

In terms of lenses, running clears + antifog. But i'm planning to kit out one set of crowbars with some persimmon flava'd lenses. Apparently, the enhanced contrasting it offers helps alot with riding in wooded terrain. Will be sourcing the replacements from Mike Hopkin's bikes, from whom I purchased the crowbars. One set of VZs I got from Patches (thanks dude!), and the other pair i got from VZ's ZA rep.

For oakley lenses, I found this website which reviews each type of lenses, which helped me determine which shade/tint of lense goes with which type of light conditions.

Pricewise, Crowbarss and VZs are similarly priced, and are almost never below R600 bought new.

@Cap, sent your Nitro off yesterday... I'll tell Dirt*girl she'll just have to wait for hers! hahaha!

...as for the goggles... loveme.DH/FR, I have those Thor's you're looking at. I got the white ones.

3 different lenses... clear, smoked, and mirror (all with antifog).

I find them good value for money. Picked mine up for R250 from a local MX shop. Paid R90 for the smoked and R110 for the mirrow lense.

Here the cons... being cheeper goggles they don't have brilliant ventilation. This means they sweat up (not even just fog) pretty easy. Funny, but I found the clear lense sweats up the most.

The smoked lense is nice in bright conditions, as is the mirror. The mirror also gives a slightly warm (orange) shade, making obstacles stand out. Almost like yellow lenses)

The good news is that mine are the 2009 Tho Enemies... the 2010 ones have replaced the high density faom filtering the vents, with mesh (kinda like on laydeees stockings)... this is more like Cap's VZ's (which he got for a bargain, I might add ;) hahah).

So yeah, 2010 Thor Enemies should work better than the 2009's, and for R300... you can't get much better!

@ Patches: bros b4 hos!! B)

Just kidding dirtygirly. /waves whiteflag while rolling on back and lifting a leg :P

Patches: do the Thors have poor ventilation irrespective of whether you riding or not? I find that the crowbars and the VZs both fog up when u not riding. But that's pretty logical. If the Thors fog up even when riding, that could be very irritating. <_<
