man.. what a thing of beauty..

but u hit on one of my pet irritations with modern bikes: that jolt when changing gears under load. Thought they would have gotten rid of that damn jolt when the chain finally engages.

the bike is called the Honda RN01 and is the team bikes for honda

g-cross team' date=' who is greg minnaar, matti lehikoinen and recently

brendan fairclouth. Basically that gearbox is a derailleur and a

cassette in a box (interesting fact: most gearboxes (or for jargon:

internal gear transmission system) are made by sr suntour), although

honda keeps everything, from the geometry to weight to the components

to the gearbox EXTREMELY secret. The coolest thing about that gearbox

is that you can shift gears while freewheeling, so you can give gas out

of a turn immediately.

In a interview with Mike van Zyl (Mike is

Greg Minnaar's mechanic), he says that only the showa carbon fork setup

is worth $20 000 and only the CASING of the gearbox is worth $30 000,

so that bike should reach far over the $50 000. If i could buy it, i

wouldn't, as the components are very fragile. Mike says that many times

greg breaks his fork setup (i hate carbon) and usually rocks puncture

holes in the gearbox casing! Then Mike just goes back to the van and

gets a new one. If they run out of forks, components and gearbox

casings, they just call honda japan and they send more!! (wish i rode

for team g-cross!!!)

Honda recently held a very hush dealer

event, but some information leaked out. Honda said they want to bring a

cheaper model of the bike into production and onto the market. The bike

will be called the RN01G, but all this about the production of the bike

are rumours.[/quote']

Yup, just have a read there ^
