NotSoBigBen Posted August 18, 2009 Share I dont know how stable it would feels on a "heavy downhill" having ridden one for a while' date=' it's surprisingly stable in the technical stuff. your bum is so far off the back of the bike, that it unloads the front a bit...sure, it's still sketchy, but not as bad as you'd imagine.[/quote'] Was this not on that 'thing'

_Daemon_ Posted August 18, 2009 Share Interesting idea, but why would you want to do it? Your getting extra weight, the drop part of the handlebar, and you cannot use hydrolic disks, you have to use cable pull disks, and questionable handling. Perhaps to get more aero on dirt road sections? Or just to do something else and stand out from the crowd? For climbing the hoods of the shifters/bars will give more leverage, but then you can add bar-ends to a mtb bar.

Cant fault the bars. hadn't even been to a bar before that happened...ok, there was the one beer in the parking lot...oh, you mean handlebars...oops @daemon, i see what you're getting at...but it's not about what advantage you get out of it. it's like the whole hardtail versus full-sus debate. why would anyone actually want to ride a hardtail, when a sprung machine is better is nearly all situations? what advantage do you get out of going singlespeed? why would anyone want to own an mtb with a coaster brake brake? whay make things difficult for yourself? cos it's fun...
