Like wheels turning on tar - these are the days of our lives.

The SA road scene is awesome - it's got grand champions, hungry youngsters, wannabes, nice guys, prima donnas, wankers and everything in between. And they said road racing was dying in SA... Long live tar!

Sadly I figured out exactly why so many roadies are chucking in their tar steeds for dusty ones... I rode the road and mtb race at Sun City.

(I haven't ridden in a road bunch in a while)

I found the road race both stressful and boring. Stressful because you have to stay well focused on white line (oncoming cars), "slalom" riders who battle to ride in straight lines, crossing wheels, holding your place in the bunch and jerks who refuse to work. There always seems to be a bit of an "undercurrent". Boring in that there were 5 or 10km stretches where all and sundry let the scenery roll by whilst the paint dried on our bikes.

The mtb race was much more fun - which is saying something because the course was mostly paving and tar - not an unclipped pedal all day.

Much as I do enjoy the rolling chess match that is road racing I find the dirt infinitely more challenging and rewarding - there are far fewer prima donnas, attitudes and soapies...

Would that be equivalent to being similar to the MAFIA?? Even I would be embarrassed after that post and I am 110% sure that "only a Domestique" Waylon earns more than Reinhart every month and maybe more than you earn a month. Sheesh I wouldnt mind being a domestique with those credits to my name...

How did this end up being about Waylon anyway when it started as a Johan thing?

Johan stopped replying. Picked a new victim. Standard Hub policy - keep it "interesting"?smiley2.gif
