Is there such a thing??? I replace my Big chainring on my XT crank and now seem to get chainsuck.... Could it be I put my chainrings back on with them not aligned properly ie that some writing on them has to be together or something? Like am I out by rotating it by one bolt or something?

you must make sure that your middel blade as well your big chain blade allign with your crank arm. the big blade is quite easy as it normaly has the peg on the out side that goes at the crank. the middel chainring has a exstra piece of protruding metall on the inner ring just inside of the teeth, have a look at it and you wil see that of the gaps between the bold hole sections, one of them wil look differend, that part has to go at the crank to allign them all up. hope this helps. Chainsuck has absolutely nothing to do with the rotational position of the chainring vis a vie the crank.  Obviously it is a good idea to get the position correct. For instance, you don't want your chain to go between the crank and the spider - that's disaster. But as for your increased chainsuck on the big blade.....under what conditions does this occur?

Hi JB

I dont know if its chain suck. Not really isolated to the Big Chainring but when I change up from small to say middle or big then It feels like my RD is being pulled forward? Also sometimes my chain gets stuck somewhere on my crank. Now this didnt happen before I changed the big chainring

That's not chainsuck and that changes the picture.

When you change to a larger chainring, the extra length of chain required to go around the larger ring comes from the spring-loaded jockey. It supplies extra chain by moving forward. It has to happen.

If the chain gets stuck somewhere on the crank and you've recently changed chainrings, I'll check the orientation as described above and then the settings on the front derailer.

Check out the little arrow on the middle and inner rings - they gotta line up with the crank arm. The big ring has a pin on the outside - that is also inline with the arm.
