Has anyone tried to use a XT hydrolic brake lever upside down? Does it work?

I need to have both my levers on the lelt side. (Disabled rider) This would mean that one would have to be upside down.

I am finding it difficult to find a single lever, they are always sold in sets.

I might be mistaken but I think the Shimano levers are side specific. Reservoir cap sist on top. The Avid Juicys I used to have were interchangeable though. The reservoir sat in front and you could easily flip them over.

I wouldn't try it with Shimano. Anything where the reservoir is on top of the lever normally gets air in the pipe once you pull it.

What model XT is it? I may be able to swap you a right-hand lever for a lefty?

Other option is to buy a left lever from CRC, they sell them separate.

Thanks everyone for your advise..

I have swapped it over to see what happens, I dont use the front brake at the moment anyway so if it stops working I am back to where i was.

If it fails I will get a lever from CRC.

I will give you feedback next week as to what happened.

Hog, I dont have one to swap. I use the left one already, I needed to put them both on the left side because I only ride with my left hand.

Thanks again.
