LBS will not be able to re-thread it, but you can insert a helicoil thingymajig by drilling new hole and treading it.. Should not be the worlds biggest mission.

Which crank is it ????? the chainring side or the single arm. Remember there are left and right habd threads involved here. Normally not worth the expense of helicoiling it.

That is not a Helicoil, that I'm sure of.

It seems to be a stubby axle or bolt for the Bromton-specific folding pedal.

Helicoil kits may well be available in left hand versions, but I don't know who stocks it. It'll be so scarce that you will have to buy the tools (as opposed to get an engineering shop to do the job for you) and that that will cost more than a set of cranks.

The left pedal is a standard right hand thread and Helicoil is available for that.
