MONOC YOUR OPINION

I have a Monoc TC2 Concept with full Ultegra groupset(9 Speed), carbon fork and FSA carbon handle bar.

 

 

 

Please give me your opinion of this bike. Not much info available.

I have the black TC2 with ultegra 9 speed groupset . It is not the lightest bike.I have no complaints and have done over 15000 km with it . I still use it on the trainer

I had a look at the Monoc frame back in 2001.

It is a not a bad looking frame in general.  They were mostly compact frames with the down sloping geometry which makes it comfortable to ride.

 

At that time Minolta team finished a season on them.  Don't know how many races they won on it but the feedback I got from them was that the frame tended to crack.  They had a couple of replacements during the year.

They did not complain about performance though.

The TC2 Concept came in a full alu frame and one with carbon rear stays.

Cracking was apparently a concern on the latter.

After years away from cycling, I started out again on the full alu TC2 and had no complaints.

Yes, it may not be the lightest but it's good value for money and is quite unique.

I really enjoy mine and think it is the coolest bike around. It is black wirh the brightest, dark red towards the front of the frame.
