The manual says it's a 'Supercharger' but it doesn't look too special to me!! I'll try an electronics shop tomorrow and see what they've got.

Thanks for all the help!!

The lights look nice but ' date=' phew the reviews on Blackburn.

I have a set of X8SL'S and they are fantastic lights. Sometimes you have to read the reviews with a bit of weariness.

I read their brackets are junky and their heavy on Juice, I ended up paying 800 bucks for a BLT firewire and I get 24 hours out of the little 4 watt LED on a set of 4 penlights. and its built mil spec.

The Blackburn chargers are pretty unique, I used to work for the UK importer and I would suggest you buy the charger from CRC if they've got it! All of the electronics that run the Blackburn lights are in the battery so if you screw up on the charger you might as well buy a complete new setup as there is a good probability that you'll end up frying the battery!

I bought an Ellies charger from Builder's Warehouse today and it seems to do the trick. Lights come on and everything seems to work fine. But if it's risky to use then I'd rather try and find the Blackburn one. - Just don't feel like forking out another R500!!!!

Afraid I can't give you a definitive answer on that, the lights might come on and will probably charge the battery the question is whether it will do any damage to the circuitry in the battery. R500 to replace charger or a couple of K to replace the light.

Also bear in mind that the lifetime warranty will probably be void if you're using a non original charger smiley19.gif

It's unlikely that the Ellies adaptor will be a li-ion charger... it's most likely a normal DC adaptor, which will work to some extend, but stuff up your battery long term.

I might be able to help you with a charger... the X4 use 2x series Li-ion... needs a charger that cuts off at 8.4v. The std charger uses current limiting to charge 3/4 of the capacity and then changes to voltage limiting to reach the full voltage...

Send me a photo of the spec sticker on the charger...

Thanks so much for the offer, I contacted Omnico yesterday and they said they were going to send me a replacement charger. Just waiting to see if it arrives. If it doesn't, I'll defintely give you a call. Thanks again!!!

Hey Johannes, Omnico don't have stock of the chargers. How much would one of your chargers be? I'll e-mail you a pic of the sticker when I get a chance.

Thanks for the help

Hi Jo, I couldn't get a decent enough pic of the sticker so I emailed you the wording. Here it is again:

AC DC Power Supply

Class 2 Transformer

Model No: MD242-120085

INPUT: AC 120V 80hz 24W

OUTPUT: DC 12v 850mA

Polarity: -   -(?------- +

Thanks again for the help, really appreciate it!

It appears as if the battery pack has a built-in charging circuit then, because that's just a normal 12v DC tranformer...

2x Li-ion is 7.2 or 7.4v.

You can use a 12v DC adaptor then. Any amperage above 1A will work. Just check the polarity adjustment!

Regards

Johannes
