Tapering before a race

Hi guys and girls




Just wanted to hear your thoughts on tapering before a race... I know it is common practice to peak in training about 2 weeks before running a race, but do you think the same is applicable for lets say a 100km+ MTB race?

how do you know if you've peaked anyway? I have my last strenous training session on the thursday if the event is on a sunday
