My favourite long distance mtb saddle is the WTB Silverine.

I have it on my mtb tandem, and even after a 5h30 hour slog at the Klein Karoo klassiek, my rear end was still fine.

Other popular option is the SLR as posted earlier and many Epic riders swear by their Fizik Gobi.

(P.S. I happen to have WTB Silverado in stock.) Wink only R799.

I have a WTB rocket V on Mr RacerX at the moment. And on my weekend long ride it produced some intense pressure pain (not chaffe) on my bum bones. Which really affected my pedalling as it really hurt to sit.Is it worth looking at another saddle ? The spez saddles I looked at have flex in them which seems to make sense (but is this good for 300km?) The guys at the bike shop said I should look at a thinner saddle with less padding. Or should I just suck it up and suffer through the pain till I get used to the rocket V?

I have a similar saddle to the WTB rocket V on my MTB. I think it?s totally cr#p for long rides. The design of the saddle isn?t any good. The ride on the saddle for me is really uncomfortable.

I currently ride a Selle Italia SLR XP on my road bike. It?s made from carbon fiber with a thin leather/foam cushion over it. When you press hard on the saddle with your thumb you can see it flex which is good.

I would recommend it to anyone.

You can get them anything from R1100 maybe even cheaper' date=' if seen the same saddle sell on the hub for R600 new.

Mampara, why do you not like the Bel Air?

Is there anything to be said for anatomically designed saddles, or is that marketting gobbelledeegook ?

thanks Mampara.

I am going to try ride with the Sella Italia that the bike came with and see if it makes a difference.

If not I will be on the look out.

Does anyone know what the real difference between the saddles mentioned is?

Is it just the shape and padding ?
