I keep mine the same, and to me....it makes riding more comfy and faster.

You really want to sit the same distance from your BB everytime you mount.

Thanks guys was not sure but took the roadbike's measurments and applied them to my mtb cos the roadbike i went for a fitting in town and did not want to go all the way in again for the MTB. It does not feel uncomfortable but just wanted to make sure !!!

exactly the same if youhave both types.

If only MTB hen the type of MTB will determine set up.

e.g. a DH bike requires a more rear ward position with pealling efficienvy being a secondary consideration.

A MArathon bike will have  a similar set up to a road bike but perhaps with the level of the most frequently held part of the bars higher

seat setups basically the same - depending on what riding you do. for XC exactly the same, for trails etc can be a bit lower.

Not all measurements can be the same - like reach to the bars. on road bike you fit so you can be comfy on the hoods - thus further away from the seat as handlebars only like on MTB.

Saddle height is exactly the same for both.  Even the saddle fore-aft position.

Handlebar reach is shorter and slightly higher on the MTB, don't need to be that aero-dynamic, and gives me better control.

Oh and my front brake has shifted to the right-hand side.

Wouldn't the saddle have to be a bit lower on the mtb than the road bike, especially when doing trails?

I seem to go with Astana's point of view. rider12009-10-13 03:10:08

I'm reasonably sure that I had my road setup done at the same place.

The following was suggested for MTB: saddle 1cm or 1.5cm lower and 1cm back.

I must point out that I wasn't very happy with the setup provided so I don't use the measurements any longer ... went back to something more traditional, somewhere around the 0.886 rule (for both road and MTB).

But if your road fitting worked for you, maybe give this a try.
