So I went out for a ride on Saturday afternoon as the weather was

pretty crap in the morning and decided to brave the traffic rather than

sit and be miserable at home wishing for better weather.

Anyway, in my total of 5 incidents in 2 hours all were caused by male

drivers trying to quickly zipp into the flow of traffic from an

intersection and by doing so, cutting me off in the process. Middle

fingers and abusive language were withheld as I am trying to do my bit

for creating a "cyclists are actually good guys" image, so I just

laughed the incidents off.

Now, the area I rode in has plenty intersections, and as I do 2 laps of

this circuit, I am continuously passing them. Whenever I see a car

approach an intersection at around about the same time I will be going

through it, I make a point of making eye contact with the driver. Every

single time it was a lady driver, she patiently waited for me to pass

to such a point that when I realised it was a lady driver, I just knew

I wouldnt have to take evasive action through the intersection.

Everytime I noticed a male driver, I instinctively got my hands ready

at the brake levers. Now I do realise that some of these people in this

area do not have fully developed brains and would try to zipp in front

of me as I am clearly not a legitimate road user, apparantly, but for it to happen

so often is just really frikken annoying.

What is it with these dudes?

Is it pure impatience or do they feel more masculine when trying to

screw someone over? These are the people with the

under-developed brains I am referring to. In a first world country cars actually voluntarily stop for you to cross the road or cross an intersection. The average IQ in these countries is far higher than South Africa...hmmmmm, see where I'm going...

There were plenty of male drivers who did patiently wait, but it most

certainly did feel that the ladies had a lot more patience to spare.

LOL, I'm not saying women have a higher IQ, they just seem to exercise patience a bit more effectively than men.

Cool, rant over.

The only serious incident I had with a driver have been with a ?Lady?.

This ?Lady? drove right in front of me without putting her flikker on, I narrowly avoided driving into her car but lets just say my brakes were screaming.  I drove past her car proceeded down the road and tried to stop shaking when the fat (everyone can put in their own word here) came from behind and tried to run me down I avoided her and went on the other side of the road again she just came for me.  I then went onto the sidewalk put my bike down and then we had a couple of choice words for one another.  She said she was going to follow me home to speek to my people I then realized she thought I was a child.  Who in their right mind tries to run over a child.

This happened more than 6 months ago and to this day I am stil angry at myself for not calling the police!! Angry<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I had an incident with a lady driver on saturday.  Close to home we were going down a busy rode, but it is two lanes wide, so i was not TOO worried. Anyways, this cow comes past me and as she came next to me started drifting close to me. Probably missed me by about 2 centimeters. And for the first time on my bike i showed her how my middle finger looks like. It was really not cool. Went passed her while she was waiting for the robot and she had this snob look on her face. Argh. Some people.

Ladies can mulit-task. That is why they can drive and notice (yes at the same time) other road users other than cars...

Oh, no. I cannot let this bit of false information pass.

Women cannot multi-task. This is an absolute lie perpetuated by them of the female gender to try and make us men feel inferior to them.

Proof?

Try this at home. When she gets noisy/naggy/a bit too much, ask her to please be quiet and leave the room.

Guess what - she can't. She stays behind and gets even noisier.

See?

my dad once made eye-contact with a lady driver at an intersection.

this was just before she drove into him!

so eye-contact counts for nothing in my book

ps. as for the misnomer that men cannot multitask.

try landing a plane - there are about 8 things that simultaneously need your attention right before you touch down.

guess what!?

a LOT of men are pilots!kamikaze2009-10-12 08:05:07

No. She is already there. Staying there is exactly NOT doing something.
