Only replace when they look like this.

Seriously I think I managed about 7500 -8000 kays on this chainring(obviously sharing the load with the other two)

Dirty twin, that's an excellent example of a chainring that will probably cause the chain to skip. Your assessment is absolutely right but I want to add one rider: or if it sucks.

If you still have that chainring, I'll give you a beer for it, I'd like to use it to show my students.

PS: Or give me the address, I'll go pluck it from the tree.

Would you have been bleak if the ring bounced into your car instead of sticking in the tree?

Dirty Twin: how often do u change youre chain?

Not as often as I should. I leave it up to my LBS to decide. What I can say is that my current chain has about 2500 - 3000 kilo's on and not giving me any problems.

I am learning slowly though on what to do when. Maybe I should start keeping a log of what gets replaced when. Nah thats just crap rather just ride my bike.

Disclaimer:

Do not take any technical advice from me as I am the worlds most technically chalenged person aroundLOL no really.

Well....the bottom teeth looks like a raggatooths sharks teeth. And the top ones are as smooth as a baby's bottom . New rings were needed about 1000km ago.
