Since 2005 I have been using a Forerunner 301 for running, riding, walking, flying, driving... the 305 series is more ergonomic, but I honestly can't say that I find the 301 to be a problem on my wrist. It looks bulky, but weighs just a couple of ounces - that's about 50-60g for the under-25s.

Mode-switching at transition shouldn't take more than 3-5 seconds.

For duathlon, start in Running mode.

At transition, press Mode button for a second or two; when Mode menu appears press Up or Down arrow button to go to Cycling, and you're good to go.

The entire workout is captured as a Multisport session.

For triathlon, start in Other mode.

Continue pretty much as above. (For me, continue swimming until the sweep boat arrives, because I've missed the cutoff.)

Garmin does look nice, but the Polar has other goodies such as Power (yes its not as accurate as the SRM) but it has it.

What I wanted to say is that there is cadgets which the Garmin and Suunto doesn't have.

Thanks Phoenix.

Will try it out.

edit -  Just tried it out in the office and it doesn't work on my 625x

I'll try it this coming week during training.
