Polar 625x

Recommended Posts

I bought a Polar 625x a while back, because I run and cycle. I've used both the running and the cycling speed and distance sensors on seperate days.

Now. I've entered for a duathlon.

Is it possible for me to use both running and cycling sensors in the same session, without stopping and restarting my wrist unit?

As far as I'm aware, No, as I've tried before.

What you can do is stop the watch after each section, change the recording from running to bike or vice-versa & restart the watch.

After downloading, join the exercises together.

If you however find an easier way, let me know.

I've e-mailed Polar with the question. I relly don't want to stop, set then restart my watch. We'll see what they come back with.

I only bought my polar 6 months ago. My wife will kill me if I spend another R2500-3500 on another gadget!!Dead

It would be nice though. Do you have one to give away?Wink

I also have the 625 and as far as I know it is possible. Start it for the run, when you get to transition, pause it and then change it to cycling and start it again when you leave transition.

i'M IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW HEART RATE MONITOR AND WAS THINKING OF THE S725.

I THOUGHT THAT AS SOON AS YOU START TO RIDE THE WATCH WOULD AUTOMATICALLY START TAKING THE DISTANCE ETC. AND WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD IT YOU WOULD SEE THE SPLITS AND THE BIKE SECTION.

DO ANY OF YOU USE THE SUUNTO, I THOUGHT OF GETTING EITHER THE POLAR OR THE SUUNTO T6.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE POLAR IS THAT YOU CAN ADD CADENCE, POWER METERS TO IT WHERE YOU CANT ON THE SUUNTO.

I think one can add a cadence meter to some of the newer Garmin models as well, so check them out to.

I saw last night that the Miriam team has Garmin on there bikes. Anyone has one?

But which one can you use for a Duathlon, and they seem soooo bulky.

How do you combine all the data? Like with Polar's Data Curve graphs' date=' etc...[/quote']

Have the 1st exercise graph open, then

File --> Open Exercise --> choose the exercise you would like to combine, but make sure you tick the checkbox "Exercise Comparison" --> Once 2nd exercise open --> Edit  --> Merge Exercise

Wallah, both exercises are now merged.

This is the reply I received from Polar. They answered me for triathlon instead of duathlon, so I asked them for duathlon as well. Will let you know as soon as I know.

Here are instructions that how to use your S625X / S725X for triathlon.

1. Set Exercise Set to Basic use. Please note that this procedure can only be used in Basic use, not in ExeSet.

2. Swimming. No shoes and sensors needed. You can set the speed setting to Bike2.

3. Cycling. Bike2 is still activated, so when the bike starts rolling, speed and trip data should be picked up by the wrist unit.

4. Running. Pause the exercise, press and hold the lower right button to change to running speed.

You will now get two exercise files which you can combine in the Polar Precision Performance or Polar ProTrainer 5 software.

As I finished typing my previous post this came through for duathlon.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email.

You need to set the watch to

- Running speed first and do the first leg in running

- By the end of the Running leg, pause the exercise and press and hold the bottom right button for couple of seconds to change it to Bike 1. Press Start to start timing again.

- In the next change, pause the exercise and press and hold the bottom righ button for couple of seconds to change to Bike 2 and press and again to Speed Off and again once to switch to Running. Press strat to start timing again.

The last change can take a while, so it might be a good idea to practice it well, so that it is as smooth as possible in the race, e.g. so that you can do it on the go. The speed sensors are picked up automatically once the correct signal is detected.

How long does this pause take?

The reason I ask is, that the transision is part of the race and I like to know the time I spend in it.

Now by pressing pause between the run/bike/run there goes the transions.

I dont have my polar yet, but tell me can you not start your race on the "bike" mode. Start your "stop watch" (if there is one) and as you come in from the 1st run do your split, then split it again when you get onto the bike, by then your watch should have picked up the wheel/speed sensor and started automatically recording the bike section, then split of the bike and split the 2nd run.

When you down load it you should see all the splits and have the run and bike section recorded too.

I have the Hac 4 plus from Ciclo sport and when you download your interval session (similar to doing splits) it flags it for you.

The problem of this watch is that the stop watch can only start and stop the recording, it doesn't have lap fascilities.

I hope I didn't confuss the whole lot of you
