loss in pressure

hey all

 

 

 

ok so i did the ghetto tubeless with sealant etc thing to my rims with UST tyres, is it normal for a loss in pressure?? ie i have to check pressure before i go riding each time, its never goes flat just looses some pressure... any ideas???

One of my bikes also got a wheel that needs to be inflated after it's been standing for a while . This is not normal for me as not one of the other bikes does it BUT I have been unable to find the problem .

I don't know about the ghetto conversion but I have the Joe's kit and I have no loss of pressure. Less than when I was still using tubes.

ok well last night i pumped my tyre hard and stuck it in water, its leaking from the base of the valve, sealant isnt pluggin it up. anything else i could try to stop it??? very very slow leak...

Just this Saterday I had the sam kinda problem. The tyre leaked air from the base of the valve. I opened up the tyre, and when I removed the rim strip I saw that the valve was coming taering away from the rest of the rum strip.

 

The sollution? Take it to my LBS and let them fix it. It lasted a whole year with only one single puncture!

Those rim strips are faulty but you won't get an importer or manufacturer to admit it. A good 10% of valves on tubes and or/or rim strips are not properly bonded to the brass nipple. I had two out-of-box failures a week ago.

 

If this happens after a few months and you don't see a new one coming your way, patch it. Take a hole punch and punch a valve-size hole through a Rema patch and patch it.

 

Otherwise, cut up a BMX tube and do a ghetto. Much cheaper than those ridiculously expensive strips from Stan's and Joe's.

 

Oh, and another solution someone showed me recently is to rip the faulty valve stem right out and insert a tubeless valve through the rim strip.
