The nice thing about Hill Crest is that it isn't too technical a route for the newbies' date=' but still fun for the more experienced cyclists as you can just ride it at pace and it so smooth and flowing.

Werner' date=' that was a great day, at least the 14km was a good ride and the 2 Great Danes that followed us would not have made the 40 kms.[/quote']

'dem Danes are nutters....

Mate and myself, with the various families and gf's etc - booked into the little guest-cottage for the weekend, some time back... After doing one of the lonnngggg loops - we're heading back to the cottage for some grub... Past a whole lot of cows... near the main farm house... 'dem Danes are behind us, came from the house somewhere, then peeled off to go and harass the cows....

We passed over the "drif"... and are now cycling up the farm road, between the cattle fencing, to the cottage.... next thing - one bovid (cow) takes it upon herself to get away from the Danes, by following our dust... and next thing - the entire herd of at least 200(?) cattle, decide to do the same... We were getting a tad nervous - since them weren't running too slowly, being chased by 'dem Danes... and with the fencing, there was only one way to go, which was through/over us - up past the cottage...

Now - after 5 hours in the saddle, in thick, dusty, dry farm sand/dust - you're not moving as fast as you'd want to with a bunch of stampeding cattle behind you (did I mention there were at least 200 of them?)... we start hollering at everyone in the cottage to get inside - since apart from a few large, dead trees, placed around the entrance to the cottage - there's nothing much in the way of a boundary around the place...

We high-tail it around the logs/trees, dismount - and prepare to scare the first few cattle around the cottage - which we did - into an open cattle enclosure just next to the cottage...

And then - for about 10 minutes - we all stood and watched all these cattle come charging past the cottage - chased by 'dem Danes - into the camp next door....

Same Danes attacked some of the cows the day before - beautiful dogs, and very friendly, but being the size of ponies - and having a disposition to scaring cattle on a cattle farm - cannot say how much longer they'll be around.... Confused
