So I just came from a magic ride in Majic Forest and then did the new MTB Single-track at Hillcrest (2nd time). <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Well done to the team (I think it is the Amariders?!) that has done this (and I am aware busy in the background to get us more tracks, through more farms), this is just amazing!

Unfortunately there was no one that I could pay my R20, for the use of the track to.  The restaurant was closed and I could not find the Honesty Box (not to sure if this will work, the Honesty Box that is, but well done for trying).  I also saw other riders who no doubt had the same problem...

Fact is, I want to pay, because it is so worth it!  So please pm me with details on what to do if I have a similar situation in future and how to handle this case.

Hi Moonman

Glad you enjoy Hillcrest.  Re payment - the honesty box is next to the side entrance door to the restaurant.  Please pay double next time you ride thereWink, or go to our website (tygerbergmtb.co.za)   for bank details.  Question however is why don't you join the club? - you can then ride for free and you also contribute for maintenance in Majik.  Details on the website.

We (Tygerberg MTB club) will complete another 1,5 km of single track this week at a cost of  R5000, so we need riders to please pay.   This new ST will form part of a new loop of about 3km that will take you nearly right up to the masts at the top of the hill.  We will start with another ST loop on the front part of Hillcrest soon that will add another 4 km, bringing the total distance at Hilllcrest to about 13 km (and counting).

Whether the honesty box will work or not? - we have no choice but to trust our fellow MTB riders - we are monitoring the situation and if it becomes evident that riders don't pay, we will be forced to only allow Tygerberg MTB club members to ride outside normal restaurant hours (that is before 9 am and after 5 pm).

Thanks Dirtman, also got your PM...

I will pay double next time.Embarrassed  You guys are starsStar, and we are all looking forward to the end result.Clap

And I am sure that all riders making use of this will pay, we understand the effort that goes into this!!  That's why I, for one went to this trouble, I do not want you to loose out on one payment!!  And hopefully it also helped to create some awareness and answer questions that other riders may have...Wink

And I will look into the club...  Thanks for the tip!

Just back from a sweltering hot Hillcrest.  We will complete the 1,5 km of ST today and will start on the second part of the extensions tomorrow - another 2 km of ST on the hill facing Tiekiedraai road.  We need to construct a "fence-crossing" before we can open up the new 1,5 km of ST.  Will try and do it before the weekend, but no guarrantees.   New loop also need to be signposted before opening it up.  Will let you know by Friday on this forum if it is open or not.

Also- remember the Tygerberg MTB club funride on 15 Nov starting at D'aria and going through the Tygerberg Nature Reserve.  Go to tygerbergmtb.co.za for full details.

We rode to Hillcrest from Table View on Sunday, in that pumping wind.  I was buggered by the time we got there!

I'm happy to report that all 7 or so of us paid our R20 Thumbs%20Up

Really enjoyed the route - would like to go back when the wind isn't pumping though - I was being blown off the track at the top section, on the grass.
