XC Route Cape Town Area

Looking for suggestions on a XC ride of around 20km's in Cape Town ? I know there are some routes on Red Hill or thereabouts but have never ridden anything there. Most if not all of my riding is done in Tokai down the single tracks due to the technicality. Looking for more of a cross country style ride which will kick off events for our 5 day Unicycle Convention.

 

Do you guys have suggestions ?

Not looking to join an event or ride. Looking for suggestions of places to ride. We're arranging our own XC ride with around 10-15 Uni riders.

You can ride 20k's in Tokai without doing technical single track. Otherwise Jonkershoek, Eden or Delvera will do.

Did a nice route with a friend yesterday, met at Silwood, rode up to Rhodes Memorial, then up to the contour path just below the Block House, then followed it round to the cable station, down some back roads to Kloofnek, cut through. Went back up to the cable station roads via all those paths below it, enjoyed some good single track back up. Followed the road to just below the block house and had a great descent back. ~35km. It was a great ride, I have never been on those tracks that side of the mountain - plenty of space for a good XC ride. Will post a map soon

Forgot to add, we went through a friend's house to get from Higgo road onto the trails behind the houses, I don't if this is possible any other way - I'm not familiar with the area.

Nice route Tom. I have ridden some of the jeep tracks below Table Mountain, including up to the block house. Nice suggestion, had forgotten about riding there. Thanks for the reminder.
