That's convoluted roadie logic, they just think like that.

Can't speak as to which is a better brand but you don't get much for second hand bikes so upgrading may be an option.

Sell both and get yourself a road bike!

 

Yes then burn the road bike.  Sure you wont be able to ride, but at least you wouldve had a big smile on your face.
