they selling for R950 on weardirect.co.za well if they good for the Epic surely they should be good for a ton? i ride with first ascent but after about 50 clicks the pain starts dont use bum cream maybe i should try that first before buying new shorts?

assos is overpriced. .  I enjoy my first ascend bibs

Capestorm bibs are also very good.  Padding not too thick, but very comfy.

I am naturally well padded and do not seem to suffer as much as my skinny assed buddies. I don't like the First AScent, the padding feels too big and is also loose around the crotch(sp?).

 

I also don't think I need to spend 1.5k on a pair of Assos, what other makes do you recommend and also where are they available and how much?

I prefer the following: assos; nalini; giordana; casertelli and adidas (mavic now). They might not be the cheepest but they will outlast 2 pairs of cheep bibs. Oldest bibs in my closet is assos and its the only one where no seem on the chamois are torn. Unfortunately i wont pay 3000 for the new ones but for 1500 im sure you could get some of the ubove mentioned. I assure you if you go cheap you WILL end up spending more in the end
