Ouch! Bit of a tough place for a newby girl to go cycling. Took my fiance there when she got her bike and she hated it. She prefers NF.

Rather go in the morning. Was there last week late Saturday afternoon and received a lot of abuse from the crowds at Fountains Valley.

My first mtb ride ever was a 13km race at Groenkloof 6 days after I bought my first bike. I loved it! Depends on the person I guess.

If you take a newbie to Groenkloof I would advise staying off the singletrack and sticking to the main roads.

me. and then i promised her i would buy her a bike - which i did now. She just wants to go back to groenies ....

Jeez that is awesome. I tried my best to get the bird to go back there but she is not interested. There is that one section on the single track where there is a steep little up & over hill of about a metre high. She cleared it and was so proud of herself that she lost concentration and bombed out on the sharp turn with the holes and mud in it and hurt herself quite badly. She still loves riding her bike - not at Groenies though...

At the exact same hill (i must say she did not think twice to go over...she saw the bump and just went at it) she also had her "first fall". She went up the bump - all the way to the top but just did not have that last bit of momentum to get her over .. she stood still for a split second and then the bike started moving backwards .... she jumped of the saddle standing over the top tube and moving backwards with the bike (screaming like a mad pig LOL) - luckily i was just behind her so I grabbed the bike stopping her just before she fell( i still have a small scar on my leg where the chain ring got hold of meEmbarrassed ) but only for the pedals hitting her knee she did not have any damage - was just a bit in shock but after 5 minutes of rest she was back on the saddle ... giving groenies a hiding

My friend that joined us was already at the main road (when that piece of single track stops) when she hit the bump... after about 3 minutes after the screaming he came up behind us ...out of breath of the high speed at which he tried to get back to us -> and his words was something like this "Ek hoor net die histeriese gil en toe dog ek iemand het nou sy gat af geval"

I will never forget this LOL
