Test drive a dual suspension. Think there is a nice second hand Mongoose Canaan floating around the hub, something like that would be a very good buy.

It was better to stick to a simple phone while smartphones were rubbish. Now phones and the way we communicate have evolved and it's better to have a smartphone. Same thing with dual suspension, they are ready now so either buy a dual or keep what you've got.

Spinnekop no one has ever driven that far just for a KISS. But the funny thing is nowhere is Phalaborwa for the past 3 years.

Lived there for 11 years.

Nice riding out to Hoedspruit and Tzaneen.  (road)

Mountainbiking in the Selati river and to Boot & Hengel up the lookout etc..

Had a little club there with the Elephant logo on it........

Good old days!!

Pietersburg has a good shop that you can wheel and deal with........AND ALWAYS QUESTION THE PRICES OVER THERE!!!!!  WinkLOL

Showtime thats a really good analogy about the phones however i would like to add a little to that if i may? simple phones are alot lighter and smaller than smartphones and easily fit in your riding shirts pocket where as Smart phones are just a lot smoother on the technical stuff lol

Yes right tool for the right job :) The emergency prepaid phone in my saddle bag is not a smart phone and I also have a hardtail.

Just that the modern dual suspension is comfortable and fast so it's the right tool for almost any job and if someone were in the market now that would be my advice.

Spinnekop, I road up to the lookout on sunday but coming down is a mission, weve had a lot of rain a week ago so there are a lot of ditches and big rocks and of course going slow is not an option, around one of the hairpin bends i nearly ran into the back of a nissan bakkie. Riding out to boot en hengel is a bit dangerous now I stopped after whizzing past an elephant behind a bush , I think he also got a heart attack, the lions have killed a couple of buffalo near to the road as well, a "friend" of mine says that pepper spray and a small bell works with lions, if someone finds the bell and the lion crap smells of pepper they know what happened to you.

We used to carry balloons with us when riding to the golf club.......and you had to blow them up pretty fast when you saw the hyenas.......pop the balloon and they run like dogs!!  Bang gatte!!  LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

Baboons are protected fiercely now here , you can ride as close as 2 metres from them and they just ignore you. I have only been here 3 years and at the bottom of town lions, hienas etc have taken some dogs and few weeks ago a lion walked past the old age home and was also seen in Nollie Bosman st. The bike club has built a course with some drop offs, ramps over fences, single track, over ant hills, bridges etc and it is great to ride, to ride here on the whole is a great experience but scary in some places, and if youve never been here you do not know hot.

sounds like a good idea!! i had some similar advise for my diving buddy, i asked him if he knows why we actually dive with knives? the reason we dive with knives is that if there is a shark attack you can stab your dive buddy wich then gives you time to get away..........

i havent been diving with the guy since then Ouch

dewd' date=' if the new Bicycling Mag did not make a typo and you keen on Mongoose there is a shweet deal, dual-suspension bike to solve all (most) of your problems....

Being on the wrong side of 40 the shock under your rear end will help too.

Good to know if im still alive at 40 ill still be able to try and kill myself on the downhill....

I wonder if that price is right... R6 995 for the Otero Elite.... Although probably going to be like a ton of bricks. I could be wrong though. I big surprise to me in the new Bicycling Mag was the GT Sensor 1.0 going for R13 495....!! The KHS brand is also sweet value for money.
