Ghetto Tubeless

Hi guys, <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Any one know where I can find presta / thin valve (not the car valve type) BMX tubes in <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape Town.Confused

I want to try and go the ghetto route. R375 per rim strip is just outrageous.

Many thanks.

Rather stick to schrader valves!!

In the long run much easier to obtain and replace...R30-40 a pop.

Your rim should be able to have adapter for this? else drill it...

I agree with Cassie. Schrader is the way to go. Just do it an your troubles are over.  I do a lot of these lately and Schrader makes it so much easier. The larger valve stem lets a LOT more air through, especially if you remover the valve core first, then you can inflate just about any tyre and get it to seat before you pour in the snot.

There is a huge difference in effort required (with a compressor) between seating the tyre with and without the valve. Presta is even thinner and less air flows and it is much more difficult to seat hardegat tyres.

Absoluut korrek! My ghetto hou nou al van voor Karoo to Coast, Majik! Top op sommer deur die beading effens wegt te trek en dan spuit jy die snot aan die kant in, nie so moelik nie!

As Johan says - better way of doing it!

But if YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE ONE with the presta valve, there were a couple lurking at City Cycles in C-Anal Walk.

Otherwise Olympic carry a huge range

You dont have to drill your rims or buy presta 20" tubes.Use a standard schrader kind tube, and use a seperate ust presta valve ,cut along the valve side of the tube,do the rest as normal, just make a neat hole in your 'strip' and insert the valve.I did both my rims like this as i couldnt get presta bmx tubes at the time.It works perfect,no leakage. You could even use presta valves from an old tube, just cut it out neatly
