Round II: WC LBS vs CRC

Ok, round II of this topic, this time its Western Cape LBS vs CRC - already confirmed that Gauteng Hubbers get handed a complimentary bottle of KGel at the LBS door to make it easier with the BEND DOWN 

 

Being Christmas and I'm limited to a R200 gift from my wife I went to my LBS. Popped into Cycle Addiction for the first time too - they use to be Mavericks.

 

WOW, Cycle Addiction has some good prices on tools. My son was getting restless so not much time to check everything but some great deals.

 

Example, Park Tool chain checker R100 - CRC R106 (ex VAT)

 

 

Did notice that the set of BlackBurn Fleea USB commuter lights I want was a R130 randts more than CRC but at least there around the corner from me for support - also CWC is doing a great deal on them.

 

 

So we may not have a single LBS to tackle all of CRCs prices, but we have a selection of good ones to support that are matching and sometimes betting CRCs prices.

 

I believe that we need to support these guys, but we also need to let them know why. They need to be reminded with each purchase that we are comparing them to CRC.

I agree,

 

was at William's over the weekend. Mostly he was offering prices that is at least on par with CRC. William knows who the competition is. Even if he can't price match, he makes up for in service. Worthwhile driving from Southern Suburbs to Somerset West.

 

One of the distributors who has come to the party by negotiating hard with his suppliers is Cape Cycles Systems.

 

Anyway, I don't buy from CRC unless I can't find something locally.

I bought myself a Hope Vision 1 light locally (at a GP LBS) to use at the 24hr

 

My 'preferred' LBS quoted my R1680, but on collection they wanted to charge me R1900 and a bit as they were misquoted... Told them too bad, I was quoted R1680. (Also knew that it sells for about that price at another LBS)

 

Sad part? at CRC they cost 801.46 ZAR (add the 15% for VAT etc - I assume not import 801.duty? and you come to R921.68 .... As CRC is the last in the line (just as the LBS), it means the local distributor pockets ~ (R1680-R921)=R758!!!???

There could be an import duty on the lights as it be classified as "electronic goods".

That would mean about 40% duty.
