Headset Help

Hey im trying to remove the bottom piece of my headset off my forks steerer, but its on increidably tight, I just lubed the whole thing now, could anyone help me on how to pull that thing off?

 

Any help would be much appretiatedSmile

You need a race puller in order not to damage the fork crown. Just take it to a shop and they will remove it for you.

You can remove it with a hammer and a punch/screwdriver.

 

Turn the fork upside down and place the end of the steerer on a block of wood or some other surface to prevent it being damaged.

 

Use the hammer and punch to alternatively tap either side (front/back) of the race until it falls off.

 

If you've got a big enough bench vise, you can use that instead of the punch:
