PS I way 75km and ran 1.8 front and 2.1 back with NO burping at all not once.

 

 

I started on similar pressures (I'm 78kg)...

 

2.2 on the back

 

I tried running below 2 on the front but I got some "grating" in heavy cornering and popped a tyre off the rim after a hectic drop off. I now run 2.2 - no worries since then.

what can happen if you run your tyre pressure too low for your weight?

 

Step 1 is a "grating" sound which I assume is the tyre deforming to the point of complaining....

 

Step 2 is a loud pop as the tyre and rim get divorced rapidly followed by you and your bike getting covered in sealant...crashing depends on a fine combination of luck and skill.

 

My recommendation (for tubeless only) is start at about 2.5 bar and reduce pressure until you the first time you hear the "grating" noise - add 0.1 bar and that should be your tyre pressure. Add maybe 0.2-0.3 bar more if you do a very rocky race...

 

Oh - if you're still running tubes then you'll soon learn that your pressure is too low because snakes start biting your tubes Wink

sounds like fun, I'll avoid the divorce proceedings...

I'm heavier than you racing snakes, so I guess I'll start at about 3-3.5 and try from there.

Nope!!  That's TOO hard..you'll lose all the benefit of running tubeliss!!

 

I weight ~95kgs and a back pressure of 2.6bar is good for me.....

I ran 2 in front and 2.4 in the back in Harkerville, Knysna yesterday and felt good. I recon this is what I will be riding in Atta next weekend. Lots of real tough sections with some real rock gardens in the first 40km if my memory serves me well.
