mark ellis Posted January 3, 2010 Share hey all, picked up the new Merida 96 3000 yesterday and was also looking at a new pair of shoes. For those of you who ride with 4 grand carbon soled shoes, is it worth the extra bucks? I am currently riding a perfectly capable R1500 pair and was wondering if the extra money would be spend somewhere else, and if so oin what? David #7 Posted January 3, 2010 Share I would not spend 4k on Mtb shoes, as they just get stuffed. However I have spent that on road shoes, 4 years later and 2 sets of cleats they are still going strong. Just toss them in the washing machine every now and again. Wayne Booysen Posted January 3, 2010 Share If it's the ultimate comfort that you want...why not? SIDI MTB shoes have a sole replacement system. Definitely worth a look at. Nice bike!
'Dale Posted January 3, 2010 Share I work with good reason: There are 4 contact points between the body and the machine, the bike - hands, bum, feet. So, make it count, I say! So, I invested in top of the range Sidi shoes. Definitely worthit for the road and off-road. What drives up the price is the carbon. Solid stiffness, solid strength, light weight of course. Carbon composite is less pricey. Good luck with your decision, Fellow Rider.
ASTANA Posted January 3, 2010 Share yep like said - for road its worth it if you have that kinda cash Mtb -- naaa, rather replace shoes every now and again - Max 2K - decent shoes and you dont feel that bad if they get stuffed up in the mud and rocks
