This was once a dura-ace shifter! If I had more pics of the bike, I would show you, but its not a pretty sight!

Change the toppic to "Simonsvlei disaster or aftermath "

I would have been very pissed and hand out a few klappe if I knew who caused the crash! Freeken rookie f'ker!

They must box the short route riders in or have another finish area for them or something.

Astana, I agree. I had a bad crash last year at Emperors Palace race when the shorter distance people got in the way at the finish. Had a nice trip to hospital on a spine board and have a nice scar of my chin from the stitches to remind me of it.

Hier is die rede hoekom daar deesdae so baie valle is. Kyk na van die ryeyrs se results dan sal mens sien dat hul net 2 races gedoen het een in X en die ander in Y dan kwailifiseer hulle sommer om elite te ry. Bullsh*t.

Well perhaps a rider who has been riding for ages but never entered a funride, training a lot and rides his first funride in X or Y and gets a good time.

hell!  Guys I sure hope all bikes and bones heal up soon.  Are all those involved in crashes lucky enough to have good bike insurance?

What is the respone of the race organisers?  Any compensation?  Doubtfull right?  Man I feel pain just looking at these race machines and tubs smashed because of a poorly planned finish.

Well, seeing as there's more than a year between ride number 2 & ride number 3, maybe he started with a development team, and started trainign really hard to be able to get those (resonably) high finishes.

Now that the reason he's in elite is sorted, it still doesn't say that all he knows is how to pedal - nothing to do with bike handling ability and etiquette... You can ride as fast as you want. But if you don't have all the knowhow and experience (not to mention common sense) to ride properly, you shouldn't be in the elite batch.

So, riding in Group X in 2007, he got a 3:03 in a race where the winning time was 2:27. That's a pretty impressive, probably mostly solo, ride.

I'm not surprised he graduated to elites 13 months later.

That is crap... I fought PPA every week to get moved up to Elites.

Took me three months, but I worked my way through the ranking a few at a time.

Not once in X then hey presto...

Clap

Jip. agree. Accourding to PPA you need to be a A-D to race elite.

I think they should make it A/B bunch only and you must race X amount of races there to qualify for transfer to elite.

Seems unlikely though... having no support from a bunch and/or other pacemakers, you would have to be Contador to ride that kind of time.  Something's fishy here.

He's fast enough... But is he skilled enough? He's wobbly... if I landed up on his wheel...I would move at all energy costs.

In the Tour de Winelands he finished with two other X riders and there were a couple not that far behind.  They obviously did a team time trial.  I've seen the so-called development riders doing that at funrides.  Nothing fishy about that.

Why don't the guys that are always moaning about the development riders organise a training camp or something for them.  It would benefit everyone.
