The_Break Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Just don't join the Makro group on Sundays, they are a bunch of idiots. Caused many an accident to themselves and other bunches they have ridden past. Dangerous on blind corners. Be WARNED!!!! Other nice groups are Wayne Pheiffer (call his shop) and the Cyclelab group on Sunday mornings (Check online). There are also Saturday league races which you can join for R50 a race every Saturday morning. Really great and you can sort of choose where you would like to start off. They not petty about starting at back, but will quickly seed you correctly as there are only 8 bunches. Oh, need to be 30 and over unless they host an under 30s race. PM me for some telephone numbers if you need to hook up with some others.

That's a good point, you should always make sure you know which one will get you a complete new bike from insurance and which only partial. hahaha

From what I have been told - my smoking will only be a puff in the fearsome PE wind I should have some more precise information tomorrow as to where I will be staying etc. Thanks for the info, I PM'ed mrm6712 and will be in touch with the others. What days are they usually riding during the week? Mon - Fri ? Over weekends I will probably fly back to race in JHB but we will see.
Azonic Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 We ride week through. Mondays, to get to the bunch, bunch ride and back usually gives me like 55km. Exact same ride Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a choice, either a ride with the "older" guys on a flat route, or a hilly bunch ride with some of the faster okes. I do either or, because if I go with the older guys I just kill them () and then do a few extra climbs on my way home (good training), or just the other bunch. Either way, PM me closer to the date and I'll try sort you out.
