Shaunh, would you please be so kind as to let me know where the signs I have contributed towards are located. Perhaps I could go visit on a Sunday afternoon, take it some tea, perhaps send a fruit basketBig%20smile

Lulu, Wolfie & HR. These signs I think should go up nwhere YOU guys cycle. Between the 3 of you decide on a road and let me know.

bobbie, your will go up in Durban on a road of your choice.

Thanks once again guys for your valued contribution in making cycling safer for your fellow cyclists and for you.Clap Wolfie, a special thanks to you for kick-starting this initiative.Thumbs%20Up

Lulu, your first sign you have sponsored has been erected on Kliprivier Road just off Impala Road (Rand Water Board) as you start the climb up 'Butchers' hill.

Enjoy your picnic there!!

Another idea popped into my mind this morning.

Did you contact all the race organizers and asked them if they would be willing to contibute towards signs?

Most of the training routes are on established race routes, if race organizers can help then it will be towards their races as well.

I don't mean they have to give hundreds of signs, but if they can give a couple each it will help a lot.

Take for instance the routes around Lido and butchers. Fast one, Vodacom race for Victory and the Liberty life uses part of the same routes.

If they all are able to asiste with say 5 signs it will help a lot.

hhmm... that's a tough one. I'm not really sure what types of fruit signs like. think I should go chat to my first sign to find out.

what you think about having the sign we are sponsoring erected on klapperkop? or somewhere else along our usual route?

Hi Ian, thanks for your input. I had a meeting with Vodacom about the Lido route and their initial response was that they would help, until I mentioned the fact that no advertising was allowed on the signs so they retracted.

WRT Race organisers, sent an e-mail to Outsurance with regards to their upcoming Outride and have not received a reply, not even 'sorry, not interested' (mail sent in April). The only response from this was that they sent my e-mail to Wilhelm at the Beeld who called me to arrange an interview and to this date, no interview took place.

The general consensus out there that if it does not create exposure for these companies or races, they are not interested.

Even trying to arrange prizes for my monthly 'raffle' is not easy. Some guys won't even give you the opportunity to tell them what your initiative is about.

it is tough, but as the saying goes ' When the going gets tough, the tough grow stronger'.

hhhmmm... yes, that could make things tricky. wouldn't want to upset the sign. I'll just have to make porvision for various possibilities, I'll take tea, coffee, hot choc, water and beer (just for in case Wink)

BTW, just did a quick count on my fund raising entries.

Only 16 people out of a possible 1000 registered members (Took the latest figure which is 2322 and / 2 for those no active no longer active.)Cry

Just did another calculation. If 1000 people entered at R100 = R100,000.00 which could purchase 170 signs. Shocked

Now just imagine if we get R10 from each entry at the big classics ie. The 94.7 and the Argus. That is R700,000.00 and equates to 1186 signs.

I like dreaming, cos dreaming can make you smile.........
