I've contacted this Samantha. Where do I get the petition quickly? I have lots of friends that we can forward it to! Please can you send it to me directly pamina@valverde.co.za

Have you read my post above? Simon Nash is the main person in charge of mountain biking at Northern Farm and he said

"This will be a long process and we see no merit in signing petitions or protesting until such time as we have established that there is in fact a need to protest."

I'm convinced that half the people sprouting off in forums are retards!

A lot of harm can be done by not reading posts in the topic before writing some mindless drivel.

Old takkie gents. You can sign all the petitions you want' date=' unless you find some endangered species or insect or plant that cannot be resettled, you're wasting your time. As per the controversial arms deal this is fill the pockets time for the officials so nothing will stop that.

Best chance of retaining a riding area is to go speak to the developers and ask them to be "green" and design some cycling tracks into their development. Putting pressure on them by attacking them on a green topic could be bad publicity if they do not incorporate such into their planning. If you really want to play dirty ... rather go lobby with the Government Department (DACEL?) that has to approve their environmental impact study ... they've got teeth!

AAAARGH something happened and my page long missive didn't post.

We need to UTILISE Northern Farm. Not only for MTB, but for any other activity that you can think of that is suited to the area.

There is Sled Doggging, Birding, Hiking, Equestrian activities and a few more I am sure.

I am, at bthe moment, working very hard at bringing Scouting to Northern Farm and we are looking at opening a Scout Troop and a Cub pack at Northern farm with the feeder for this group coming straight out of Diepsloot.

If we can find a number of activities on the farm that involve the development of Diepsloot children, we have a better chance of saving the farm and our favourite riding venue.

If you Kids School is looking for an "Outward Bound" experience, NFRUG has a dedicated portfolio for just that. If you Church group wants to do a hike or a camp, chat to Simon or NFRUG.

Just do something!
