Any advice on things to pack for a 9day stage race.

I'm concerned that the 86x53x53cm will not be enough for the required spares, tools, supplements and clothes and sleepingbag etc.

If any of you have done some of these, what do you suggest, what is a must have, and what can be left at home.

Suggestions:
If you're wearing a camelbak, fill the bladder with carbo drink powder
& water mix. Also carry a small waterbottle with fresh water only for
washing down the gels and cooling off body in the desert.

Do everything you can to keep your race (adidas) bag as light as
possible, it's a ?bitch? to lug the thing around after a hard day's
ride.

Pre-pack your daily rations of gels, bars and powder into ziplok bags
for ease of access when you prepare your bag for next days ride.
This also helps avoid bringing too much heavy food that is unnecessary.

also prepack each days riding kit in a sep ziplock bag !

Share spares with your partner to save weight, no need for both to
carry stuff.

You will have to wash bike clothes during race - use liquid
detergent/travelwash<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

That's a pretty big bag. I was thinking more in the line of what extras would be nice to pack.

Clearly my cycling goodies colletion is not big enough to fill the bag.

This lists above look pretty comprehensive, there are however two things that I feel are essential.

Liquid hand sanitizer (pocket size)

Liquid sunlight soap

I picked up a stomach bug doing Epic this year and the most likely cause was hand-to-mouth transmission of bugs so the pocket-size hand sanitizer (available at Dischem or any pharmacy) is essential, use it all the time when you are in the camp.

Sunlight soap to properly clean your bottles - this is another cause of stomach problems.

There is another good list here.

Does anybody know what the 86X53X53 bag is that they are talking about. I would guess that they would use the plastic tote boxes from the Sani2C, but these definitely sound like soft bags. Is it Cape Epic style bags that you can keep?

Milton's (spelling) might be a better option for your bottles.... Its the stuff that mothers use to clean the baby bottles.

Milton's tends to leave a strong after taste Corega tabs work well.
