Widget - What about the group of PD people who are in between the really poor buggers who have nothing and those that have everything?

Perhaps this VeloKhaya project is aimed specificaly at helping SA cycling and not at social issues.

As for mobility' date=' well i hope they are giving the guys mtb's instead of plastic road bikes. That way they can cycle to school instead of walking 3 hrs through the veld or wherever.

It could be,... but thats not upliftment.!

Upliftment IS a social issue. Its never been anything else.

I dont think you can compare say Rugby and cycling development - rugby is a pure sport, its not going to get you to the shop, whereas cycling has the opportunity of improving so many peoples daily life by giving them independance and mobility.Surely thats more important to the vast majority of youngsters who need assistance and an improvement in their daily life NOW - work on the sports stars of the future once thats accomplished.

I will say it again, I am all for upliftment, but it starts at the very bottom, not at the "handy" middle section.

I do however agree on the MTB issue.Big%20smile
