Anyone else forgot to unlock their forks at the last downhills of the 85km?

When I came to the section where whe merged with the 35km track again, I could finally look down and saw that I forgot to unlock.

So I basically rode without any suspension and I went past guys on their dualliesLOL. Hectic stuff. Can feel it on my kidneys and wrists.

I had fun all the way, except didn?t know it was 85km ... only planned for 75km  Big%20smile

Probably the best race so far this year for me, really enjoyed it  & it had a bit of everything in it to keep you wanting more.

I will be back next year  Thumbs%20Up

DEFINITELY best race of the year, enjoyed much more than Sabie/Barberton/ the rest! Thanks to a) the guy with the dislocated shoulder who helped me back on the road b) the couple who gave me a tube when I had my second puncture c) and sorry to the lady who's derailleur I broke off the frame while trying to fix it (oops!)

Haha MBP !

I did the 35km, quick race and allot flatter than I expected, but did ride the time I wanted to so I guess I must be content.  Think they should maybe make the 35 a 20km fun ride, cutting out the last climbs and then make a 40km out of the last 'tough' bit of the course, probly not viable but worth a mention.

Finish is great with the ladies and a cold beer in the hand etc ;) Also not a bad goodie bag.  Only really dumb thing is 4 porta potties for 1600 people and their families, WTF ???

Staggered start could be nice, considering the cue I had to wait in for the potty I couldn't get to the front of the start area to avoid the masses.

Guess I'l try do the 80km if I get enough training in next year.

Just a bit pissed that my garmin did not save my race data, new wheels worked a treat though, climbed like a goat with them.

Thanks Bump! What kit/bike do you ride ? Seems allot of people know how I look(must be the white legs hahahaha) but I dont  know them...

I remember talking to a dad and his son at one point on the 1st 'climb'(would rather call it a gradient @4/5% but anyway, only really noticed it as I was suddenly going allot slower LOL) telling him its cool that he takes him riding, are they the people you are talking about ?

Was lekker om jou te ontmoet MJ, Can't miss the red manitou on the GT ;)

My uncle has a slight leadfoot, but hey work car + petrol = speed.

I drive the same Corsa bakkie as you so will take that to Babbas, nice to just load the bikes in the back.  Sien ek jou daar ?

Start was a bit crowded, but I guess if you want to ride the mtb 'classics' then one should either be early to start at the front or be willing to work your way through the masses.  Hopefully they start to seed all races at some point.

Anyone knows who took the photos?

My buddy wiped out at the first mud pool with the photographer right there to take the pics... it's gonna be a real classic, I'm going to make sure he never forgets it! They said it would be posted on the Mabalingwe site but so far nothing...

Die rooi vurk is nogals prominent. Big%20smile

Slight leadfoot? Nogals.
