Vinnydabutcher Posted June 3, 2010 Share I`m heading out to Howick/Karkloof for a week in Aug. Does anyone know who I can contact for a group ride or a guide to the local trails. Most of my time there will be spent midweek. Is there a set tail on Karkloof? How long/technical is it? Is there any other options? Is there a LBS who can help me with directions/spares or is the closest PMB. I also wanna do Giba. Any help or idea`s?

trailrider Posted June 3, 2010 Share Hi Vinny, pm Racer X (there are two on the hub, the one with more posts) he's a local in Hilton and will put you in touch with Gordon from W? (a Hilton bike shop) and/or the guys from Howick cycles, they administer the Howick trails. Some secret trails the locals don't much talk about is up to Black Mountain via Cedara and down through Magic Forest. The Cumberland Classic uses much of the route - it's great. Candy Posted June 3, 2010 Share Grant from Adrenaline Cycles is defiantely the person to contact! I was around there last year for a wedding and he organised 2 rides for a group of us through the most amazing forests! He is very approachable and super helpful. KeithW Posted June 3, 2010 Share The Sappi forest in Howick also has plenty awesome trail - everything from the begginer to as technical as it gets you will find there. There is no cost to ride there but you have to sign an indemnity form at the howick hospital.

Dan Dob Posted June 3, 2010 Share Enjoy the trails! Back in the 90's myself and friends started building the trails there and I still think it has the best riding in the country.
