Anybody running slim with Schrader valves will need to replace/clean them. After a switched to slime a year ago, I found very little info on this little things and did not know what they where called or where to even source them - seen prices of over R200 for a basic one.

I eventually used my dremel to convert an old screwdriver into one but the size was a problem to always keep on hand while on the trails. Normally I would not take the kitchen sink, but at last years Die Burger, my tyre ran flat as the valve got stuck causing a slow leak.

Cost me a tube change as I left my tool at home (else it would have just been a quick replacement of the valve).

Today I was at my local BenBel (a local hardware store chain) and eventually found one of these.

Cost R13.

Very hand little tool as it also threads both the inside and outside of the valve. This is really, really hand when you got a lot of crap slime gobbed up on the inside.

.... or you can get a valve cap like the one below that has the basic removal tool built into the cap. You should be able to get the at BenBel or Midas where they sell four in a blister pack. With this on your wheel you will never leave it at home again.

I've got one of those! Works like qa charm and never gets lost (iunless you leave it laying around of course)

Forgot now where I bought it...but i like the ability of the firts tool to actually also remove some crappy slime stuck in the valve core....

Those you can get from any tyre stockist.

The question is where can you get a Presta valve one. I don't want to use pliers anymore.

...... no problems..... just wear a full face helmet or welding helmet!!!!!!!

If you ever see these in the store let me know, or just grab me a pair please. The one I bought is great for the tool box, but I would like to have the valve cap ones too. At least those caps will not get lost.
