I was back in SA visiting my mom last year when my bike was stolen out her garage in Cape Town. The bike was very sentimental to me as I rode many Argus Tours with it when I was younger. It is blue with yellow handle bar tape. I have pics. I discovered this site recently so decided to take a long shot and let readers know to look out for it. I may even offer a reward for finding it. Only when people come together to fight these thieves will crime be lowered. Thanks

I know the feeling, especially the sentimental bit! A whole history lives in those bikes!

Very sorry to hear! Some consolation is that it wasn't violent - mine was, with a pistol in the eyeball

I have been out of SA for about 10 years and still find it 'funny' how people there have begun to accept non-violent crime..... as long as you weren't killed, injured etc you should be happy!!!

 

There is theft in many places ... Here in Los Angeles bikes get stolen too!!!

 

Perhaps the authorities, if they can take a break from stealing themselves, should stop cyclists periodically and insist on bikes and/or cyclists being registered in some way???
