How about a set of these clinchers for R7k incl. double wheel bag, skewers, valve extenders and carbon specific brake pads (available in 38 or 50mm and Shimano or Campy immediately!).

38mm weigh 1520g and 50mm weigh 1590g a set!

The style police will come after him if he doesn't also change his groupset, though.

Edman you are one of the wise ones!

Thanks for all the contributions so far.

I am not convinced that what appear to be slightly heavier, aero, deep section rims will help me much. I am not a time trialler, and if I have any strength at all, it's climbing. Well, that and getting total strangers to tow me along. ;) If I didn't have the Ksyriums they do look interesting.

The Shamals and Fulcrum Zeroes that somebody mentioned back there look plausible, subject to budgetary constraints, and something spindly like lightweight Eastons or American Classics are also edging into the frame.

Keep the comments and suggestions coming...

Nobody NEEDS new wheels if they're still rolling, but the fact that you wrote this post, means that you probably WANT new wheels ;)

Keep up at the back! :)

Hell, unless you get paid to ride bikes, nobody needs better than Tiagra...and even then, prolly not better than Sora!

There is a big difference between NEED and WANT...
