Saw a video on you tube on how to service a rp23 Float shock. The rep said that fox has a universal seal kit that works on all their shocks.

Any one that can supply me with the kit.

Ask your LBS to order it from the Fox agents (Omnico, based in Cape Town)

You can do it yourself but kiss your warranty goodbye, you can get seals from any LBS. Their is a certain part on the shock if you remove it you may as well throw it away. If your confident go for it

Does the air count as a part?

I was riding my 2004 SPECIALIZED Epic today and marveling how wonderful the Fox rear shock wif brain still works....

QUESTION: I know I should speak to the LBS or Specialized but seeing its Sunday night...

Is it possible to get an "overhaul kit" for these shocks and has anyone had a go at overhauling one and if so what about the brain part?

The overhaul kit for Fox shocks that is available to the general public is a set of seals and O-rings for a air sleeve service. YOu can do an air sleeve service without affecting the brain part. To overhaul the brain would require a damper service. This is not really complicated but it does require a nitrogen bottle and regulator, and a needle to get the stuff into the shock.

All that you would replace is the oil. The rest of the parts last a long time and generally don't need replacement. If it does, you may have trouble finding spares. Usually the agent holds onto this like his family jewels and refuses to let mere mortals do this type of work themselves.

Manitou publishes the service guides of its reservoir shocks and the Spez brain is similar. Once you can service a reservoir-based damper, you can service a brain.
