So I got a good 2nd hand fork off a Hubber. Was great for the first few rides till I noticed it had serious play on it. Thought damnit, my luck.

After inspection it turned out not to be the fork (thank goodness), but my headset is klaar. Think thats what caused the sudden deterioration of my old OEM fork.

Anyway, budget is tight due to excessive medical bills - hey,my doc also MTBs and I have to support his habit.

My bike is a GIANT rock 2008 model and came fitted with the cheapest of the cheap headsets.

Now what is a good entry level headset that easily sourced in SA - ordering from CRC is not worth it as its not like I'm getting a Chris King

Cool thanks. I tend to find "GIANT" boxed stuff to be rather good. Got the seatpost for R250 and only regret is not doing so the day I bought my bike.

(Bought an entry level Giant last year and the OEM crap they fitted it with is the only complaint I've got against Giant. You cannot even buy this crap under Dunlops name :) )

Just phoned my LBS as I also want to give him the chance to get my business. His got some cheap deals for me but considering the labour is R50 bucks I might as well add an extra R100 randt note and get a good headset.

Also at R50 randts, I will rather pay my LBS than screw up my frame doing it myself.
