Weird : New Cycle Lane vs Otto du Plessis

Where does the route go through Paarden Island's buildings? I just stick on the road, cos the kerb is really wide and you can see the oncoming traffic.

I think on Monday it was 20kph out and about 40kph back... almost ran out of gears! Never ridden a road bike but I keep picturing myself on my "tri-bars"! :)

The red bus road turns left into Paarden Island at Milner road I think, Steve Johnson Cars is situated on that corner. I must say the SE doesn't head you head on but it can still be pretty bad. This morning was pretty rough , but the ride back was a jol for sure. I think I'm getting spoilt on that dedicated lane. I'm considering getting a road bike! ooops.

Yes, know where that is, but that could get quite hectic if those big busses start?

I'd stick on the right of the road in the yellow lines, if I were you, instead of turning off. Plenty of dips, hollows and bumps to dissuade you of you strange considerations! :) With your shocks locked at 40kph+ it's a nice reminder why you have shocks in the first place.

True! I was trying to get the speed camera on Kloof road to go off last week and just as I passed it I saw these little bumps in the road. Jo it was rough. 60+kph and I think for a full minute my heart rate monitor read 0bpm...

The cycle lane carries on all the way into town, just passed Porter's Auto, but it is about 2km longer then cutting through the harbour... That section where the bus-route dips under the N1 is where all those okes "camp".

I'm planning on doing the block-house and back on saturday morning if you are keen to join. I need someone to slipstream.

I'm planning to do the two races this weekend. (Lourensford and de Grendel).

I'm afraid you have grotesquely misinterpreted my speed levels in terms of slipstream-ability, or whatever the word is :) I just ride as hard as I can for as long as I can and see what happens. You should come to Killarney on a Tues at 6pm. We desperately need more okes on knobblies there. We are massively outnumbered!

I was at life-cycle on Wednesday and found out that it is open to MTBs too. I'm strongly considering giving the racing a skip this weekend; I have done back to back races the past 2 weekends, and want to do some less intensive riding, but I might be persuaded otherwise late on Friday night.

Good luck man!

Cheers! You know what the maniacs say - it's the long, slow rides that make the difference. (Although I should be World Champ by now...)

Come on Tuesday - it's a fantastic hour, even if you get dropped by whatever bunch you start with. There's normally a fast and slow group and they do half hour warm up and then go like hell. I try stick with the fast roadies as long as possible and then just latch on to whoever is closest and try not let the second group catch up. Really helps the peloton riding for us jittery folk.
