Also got this email from my SSG security company:

Dear Chair Person

Do anyone of your residents maybe had an encounter with this man?

Well he is now in jail at Midrand SAPS due to work of SSG investigators as part of the dream team put together to fight crime. (Dream Team consist of eBlockwatch, Tracker and SSG)

The bicycle was positively identified by the victim yesterday!

If your residents do recognise him please contact SSG 011 5183600 and ask for Ollie. We want more victims that can link him to other similar crimes.

Together we can take the streets back from criminals!!!

The problem here is he does not look damaged enough, I would have liked to see evidence that he experienced some pain !!

This guy looks like any other guy standing on the street corner.. not threatening at all... in fact with his tattered cap he kinda looks homeless..

Is this the type of guys that has been jacking the bikes up north ??

On another point ,many a times you hear victims say things like " out of nowhere" " I wasn't aware" ..why is that .. ????

If it could bugger up any sort of conviction then SSG would not have sent out this to "ALL" its email recipeints

This is indeed very murky. The mail mentions that he is in Midrand jail. Is there a jail in Midrand? It seems more likely that he is in holding cells awaiting a court appearance. There is no mention of an actual conviction. Identifying a person before they acually appear in court on the charge could very well lead to the case being thrown out. Yes, let's take a tough stance, but remember that seeking short cuts in justice could work against you. That mail from SSG is irresponsible.
