Forgot to mention.......Please support Nic White and his Right2Ride Initiative.

There will be a ride in the Cradle on the 13th November.....see www.nicwhite.co.za for more details!

He cr@pped on me the other day while riding in the cradle near Glenburn lodge. There was a pad section in the cycle lane so I rode on the in the "car lane" for about 10 meters just as he came past. He gave me an earful and I appologised.

He rode in the South one day and going up the hill just after the Lido Hotel I said to him "Am I hurting you yet"? I got a smile, I think he didn't say anything cause he was too tired to talk  Anyways back to the subject.

Give FRAIL some support!!!!!

Hi SuperCowSonic

I read your thread yesterday and wanted to respond but sanity prevailed. Thanks Scotty for always promoting Sign-Up when & where you can.

The signs thing is going no-where slowly as funds have been scarce and dealing with the Provincial Governments is a nightmare. Sign-Up has been very low-key this year as people (mostly cyclists) won't even greet you never mind give you R1 to try and save their lives.

I am currently doing a safety patrol or rather following large groups of cyclists around the south over week-ends to try keep them safe. I will be shutting down Sign-Up at the end of February 2011.

Thanks SCS and good luck to Frail and all the others riding for Cancer at this years 94.7. Raising funds for cancer is really great but in my opinion there are thousands of people doing this yet nobody tries and cares about cyclists and their safety. PLEASE, DON'T GET ME WRONG! CANCER IS A SERIOUS ILLNESS!! and more should be done to find a cure!

Lee Tonge (Leet22) will be riding in Sign-Up kit at this years 94.7 to raise funds and I wish him all the best.

May GOD bless you all and keep you safe out there!

Regards,

Shaun Hannie

Hi Shaun

Sorry to hear about Sign Up coming to an end, SlowPoke introduced me to the whole thing, i know the guys at Team Edenglen who contributed (and donate to a Charity every year! - Well done boys!) and it's sad to say but far too often it's really difficult to make an impact unless done in huge numbers! Do motorists even notice road signs these days? It's really the whole of society being too rushed with all this digital kit. Like how many ppl would survive a week without their cellphone or their PC?

I will try make the Right2Ride, work dependant :(

Will definitely do the Toy Run - Bicycle Style :)

If you look at theCOWS aim this year it's to upgrade Baragwanath Hospital's Oncology ward (esp the childrens section), it goes a long way to helping the whole of the community and not just a select few people?

Most of us with medical aid will have the luxury of being able to drive or be driven to a pvt hospital for treatment.

How do the families in the rural districts cope and how does the travel cost 3 times a week for a mother & child impact the family? The decision is sometimes made that they can't afford the travel, so no treatment is received, hence the child is the 1 that ultimately suffers and the likely hood is death. This is where CHOC step in & i'm proud to say I've learnt to now appreciate life more fully! :)

I'll climb off my soapbox now & if there's anybody that knows of initiatives that need help, PM me ;) Still trying to get details of a kid with CP that hand cycles that's looking for assistance :D

Ride safe all!
