And tyre pressures, saddle, handle bars, stem, seatpost and frame geometry? Hell, even the amount of riding you've done in the days leading up to the comparison could make a difference: I know my bike feels different the day after a hard race to what it does after a rest day.

You can't make generalisations about carbon being a better ride than aluminium etc. There are too many other factors that contribute to how a bike feels. At best you can say that a specific carbon bike with specific components with a specific setup under specific conditions may feel better (what is better?) than a specific aluminium bike with (hopefully) similar components, setup and conditions.

NEVER said it was a better ride, said its more comfortable, for me. By the way, all components, wheels, saddle etc came from the Alu frame onto the Carbon frame. So riding over the same rumble strips (if you read the first post) made a HUGE difference. Agreed, the geometry might be different, but I'm sure it would not make such a big difference on a simple rumble strip test?

It might: different fork angles and longer tubes could make a fair bit of difference to how the fork and seatpost flex which would in turn effect how you perceive the road surface.

I'm not really disputing the results of your test though: I believe you when you say your carbon bike feels more comfortable than your aluminium bike.

I do dispute your general conclusion from that test that carbon bikes are more comfortable than aluminium bikes.

If you want to feel the difference, ride with Alu frame over these rumble strips they put before robots / stop signs. Then go over them with a Carbon frame. With Carbon, your energy bar stays in your tummy, with Alu, its back in your mouth.

LMAO!!! but very true!!

Ok. Alu it is then! now merida race lite 904, cannondale synapse 5 or gt series 2? Or or or??

See if you can do a bit of a test ride to see which one feels better to you. Then buy the one that looks nicest. In my opinion, that's the Synapse.
