What happened to Animax? Used to enjoy watching Unbeatable Banzuke (had some crazy trials stuff on it), Takeshi's Castle and Ninja Warrior before going to bed. The ultimate in mindless entertainment. Now I see that the channel is no more!

Animax to go off air

22 October 2010

MultiChoice would like to advise its subscribers that ANIMAX, which has been airing on DStv channel 126, will go off the air as of Sunday, 31 October 2010 at 23:25.

The channel is going off the air because the Japanese anime genre that was featured on ANIMAX did not attract the broad viewing audience that MultiChoice had targeted.

Channel 126 will be reserved for a new channel from Sony Pictures Television which will launch in February 2011. The new channel will retain some of the very popular live action and reality-based programmes that were popular on ANIMAX. In order to appeal to a broader audience, the new channel will focus on action-oriented movies, games shows, series and reality programmes.

The name and detailed programming of the channel will be shared closer to the time."

Thanks Squier. Did they mail you? Now that I think about it, they should've mailed their subscriber base. They are all fanfare & fireworks when launching new channels but when axing channels they do it covert style. Bahstahds!

Something is replacing it I believe and Takeshi will be there!!!

Sure as hell hope so. Those crazy Japs are really entertaining. Edited by Ricky Bobby

I cant stand reality shows, bore's me to tears, who the hell cares what some dumbass semi-celeb does in their spare time, Not me anyway, but it seems Multichoice is infatuated with these shows, they must be dirt cheap to buy because almost every channel has at least one stupid reality show on at any given time, either that or it dumbs the viewing public down to such a degree that they actually begin to think this is entertainment.

.........and while I am on it, there is the most dreadfull show on some channel (the name eludes me now) where some gormless idiot is challenged by a bunch of unappealling woman to be unfaithfull to his partner - I mean what the..................!! - not only is this stupid, and the contestants by and large unattractive, what do's this say about society morals at large.?

It is beyond me, really it is, maybe I am just old and cynical, but in my opinion this kind of mentally inferior drivel, just serves to further re-enforce the notion that in todays society "anything is acceptable" and even condoned so much its made public.!!

Have we sunk so far as to become a society mindless, pocorn munching morons that we even entertain this c**p, never mind watch it.?
