My SBR time starts and ends in the car park, might be only a couple of meters but i'm still peddaling.

I do believe that is the correct way, I also use that as the start and fin

but its also possible to come down the first climb and not do the last few k's....

I have experience, so that's why I know :)

MMMMMMM naughty naughty never come down the first climb it is a one way and gives us a bad rep with the parks board for not obeying reserve rules - you will also be in for a few choice words from other cyclists - as well as the danger factor.

It is great training for any racing you want to do. It is also a good yardstick to measure your current fitness or lack thereof.

That place spanks you hard! :)

Times are also very dependant on how much wind is blowing up there. It can really honk, making riding harder than normal. Yesterday it really blew hard, doing the steep ramp down after 12km was hairy into the teeth of the wind.

what really sucks though is the large amount of beer and other glass bottles littering the verges of the road. It seems the park officials have better things to do than pick up after the litterbugs.

Nice to see all the new baby Zebras!

I'm not up to doing a full 2nd lap, so i sometimes do the 1 full lap then go up the short 2km climb and turn right and do a 2nd short lap.

One tip I have - Never lose respect for that place, when you become over confident that is when you see your ass big time and SBR has many ways of making you see your ass.

Not for me thanks, used to love training there but since my cycling buddy got seriously injured there and almost lost his life. I find the roads a safer place to ride.

The park officials drive the wrong way on the loop ALL the time, so I wouldn't worry about trying to please them if you have to take a shortcut emergency down the first hill.

Beware of cars travelling the wrong way on the loop, grass is high in places and corners are blind.

there have been some really bad colissions.

Park is looking nice and green though, new grass replacing all that was recently burnt.

For me start and finish is in the carpark.
